Hospice...A Special Kind of Caring since 1984 - covering the concept of hospice care, who benefits, what services are available, how referrals are made, where care is provided, when does hospice care stop and how is hospice care paid for.
It's Time We Started Talking About...End-OF-Life Care - a recent national survey revealed that Americans are more likely to talk to their children about safe sex and drugs then to their terminally ill parents about choices in care as they near life's final stages. This brochure discusses six (6) points to consider when starting a discussion about end-of-life care.
Losing Someone You Love...Hurts - this brochure covers the grief support services available through Hospice & Health Services, Inc. Grief support is designed to remind you that you are not alone, help you understand that grief is a normal, natural and necessary process and help you understand that your feelings, thoughts, behaviors, and needs will change.
Hospice Volunteers...Making Each Day Count - volunteers are an essential part of a hospice program. Hospices could not exist without them. This brochure briefly describes an overview of the volunteer, training, and the duties of the volunteer.
To learn more about Hospice services or to receive any of the brochures, contact Krystal M. Thompson, Community Education Coordinator at 740-654-7077.
Hospice & Health Services makes end-of-life care planning resource available to the public - Hospice & Health Services announced the availability of "Choices: Living well at the end of life," an advance directive packet that consists of a collection of resources to help people plan for end-of-life issues. The packet was produced by the Ohio Hospice and Palliative Care Organization (OHPCO), in cooperation with the Ohio State Bar Association (OSBA), the Ohio State Medical Association (OSMA) and the Ohio Hospital Association's Foundation for Health Families.
It provides forms that allow individuals to take control of their future by creating legal documents that spell out how they would like to receive care if they were to become permanently unconscious or terminally ill and unable to communicate.
The packet includes: detailed information and forms for Ohio's Living Will law, Durable Power of Attorney, Do Not Resuscitate orders, organ donation and Hospice care. OHPCO is making the packet available to the public for $2 per packet. However, Hospice and Health Services is providing the packet free of charge to residents in Fairfield, Hocking and Perry counties.
Packets can be obtained by calling Hospice & Health Services, Inc. at 740-654-7077 or by e-mailing us at hospice@hhsfc.org.
